Zac Van Someren
Freelance oil painter based in San Diego, raised in Sacramento. Zac's work moves across murals, portraits, landscapes, abstract, and surrealism, but what makes him different is the conditions most of his work is made under: live, in front of crowds, during DJ sets.
Each painting is made live during a DJ set. The marks track the music in the room as it's playing. What ends up on the canvas is specific to that night.
"Paintings are a capsule of energy. They have the ability to soak in the environment which they rest in. When individuals are within that environment, the vibe given off by those people dictates the reflection of its outcome. The finished product of a painting is a mere illusion by the viewers. That perceived vision is in essence the state of abandonment of the artist in that particular time."
